What the weekend is

The Isle of Wight is said to have more ghostly sightings per square mile than anywhere else in the UK. For one weekend we are bringing in the Isle of Wight Ghost Experience to take our guests on a private tour of the island's darker side, with local history, eyewitness accounts and costumed actors bringing old scenes back to life.

Shanklin has a story of its own: HMS Eurydice went down in a storm off Dunnose Point in 1878, and her bell hangs in St Paul's Church in the town.

On Friday 20 November comedian Gary Delaney is at Shanklin Theatre, a short walk from the hotel. Tickets are sold by the theatre. See our theatre breaks page for a stay close to the show.

Good to know

The tour is an evening walk outdoors, so dress for the weather. The hotel has a lift to every floor, but the tour route is on foot outdoors. Ask reception about accessibility and suitability for children.
